The mid 1950s Comic Code  got rid of Zombies and severed heads from comics but in the 1960s the Code was quite happy with stuff that maybe wouldn’t go down too well in comics designed for children nowadays.

Superman’s Girlfriend, Lois Lane 14 cover dated January 1960 depicts Superman (well a Superman robot) taking Lois over his knee to give her a spanking. This had been a fairly regular thing that Superman (and quite a variety of other heroes including Wonder Woman) got up to in the 1950s, often in the final panel of a story, to chastise naughty girls.
