Who was that masked man?

Later incarnations of the Green Hornet saw him sporting a green mask similar to one worn by the Lone Ranger that just covered his eyes.

Early adventures saw him well ahead of the trend and sporting a blue mask covering nose and mouth that was remarkably similar to ones currently worn by virtually everyone on the planet in 2020.

PS: Why was he called the Lone Ranger when he was always accompanied by Tonto?

PPS: Odd fact. The Green Hornet is the grandnephew (?!?) of the Lone Ranger.
